Proposition Highlights

Prop 36 (YES) was a top priority for the ACGOP. This measure reformed elements of 2014's Prop 47, restoring felony charges for repeat retail theft and fentanyl trafficking. It passed with broad bipartisan support statewide, including strong support in Alameda County.

Prop 35 (YES) made permanent the existing managed care organization tax that funds Medi-Cal services, preventing the legislature from redirecting those funds to the general budget.

Props 2, 4, and 5 (NO) — The ACGOP opposed these bond and tax measures due to concerns about adding to the state's debt burden and lowering voter approval thresholds for local tax increases.

District Attorney Recall

The Alameda County Republican Party Central Committee endorsed the recall of District Attorney Pamela Price. The recall effort, which drew support across party lines, succeeded with approximately 63% of voters supporting removal. Price had been elected in 2022 and faced criticism over criminal sentencing policies and office management.
