Legislative Watch Goal Details

Rev. 3/3/2022 Legislative Watch Team Goal Details

  1. Advocate for Republican platform so County conservatives can call/write/e-mail varied and routine positive input to their legislators:
    1. Propose better text/solutions to improve or replace text in an existing bad bill
    2. Propose basic themes in keeping with Platform ideals (e.g. Guaranteed jail time when physical violence used in a crime.)
      1. https://www.alamedagop.org/party_platform
    3. Explain varied procedures for how best to contact a bill author or legislator.
  2. Glean Data from State web sites:
    1. Extract/Check weekly from State Legislation Web Site, a list of active bill names and descriptions (not yet published on our bad-bill list) that should worry conservatives and which still have time for public comment.
    2. Extract/Check monthly from Secretary of State Web Site, a list of conservative initiatives that need signatures to get on the ballot.
  3. Publish State Data so conservatives can call/write/e-mail timely input to their legislators:
    1. Publish web page of a “real-time” status board of active bad bills, which still allow public comment to the bill's author (especially Sen. Scott Weiner's frequent bad bills), letters, and phone calls to legislators or the Governor.
      1. https://www.alamedagop.org/legislative_watch
    2. Publish web page of status of ballot initiatives heading for the November 2022 Ballot.
      1. https://www.alamedagop.org/propositions
    3. Distribute, monthly, a snapshot of these web pages to our MailChimp list and for peer organization's newsletters and email lists of their supporters.
  4. Remove Old Data from web site (monthly):
    1. Remove bills flagged as chaptered (signed into law), failed, or vetoed.
    2. Remove initiatives that failed to get enough signatures.
